Price drop on iPad 2 with release of iPad 3?

With the ipad 3 release date coming soon, many wonder if Apple will reduce the price for the ipad 2. After owning an Apple ipad it doesn’t take long to figure out how much you can accomplish with this device. The ipad’s sleek design and user friendly interface makes it the most popular tablet on the market. With the ipad 3 release date coming soon, Apple is sure to make the gap between ipad and laptop even smaller. However, the applications and features of the ipad 2 is sufficient for many people.

Many anticipate the ipad 3 release date to snatch up an ipad 2 at a lower price. People expect a price decrease by Apple because the ipad 2 release lowered the price of the original ipad by $100 until Apple sold out. Will Apple do the same with this release? I expect they will.

With steep competition in the tablet market Apple may not have a choice but to lower prices. Many companies offer similar products like Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Sony’s Tablet S, and Samsungs Galaxy Tablet. With all of these companies offering their products at a significantly lower price, Apple may feel the pressure to cut their prices.

Many speculate Apple will reduce the price of the ipad 2 by as much as $200. Meanwhile, the lowest base price for ipad 3 will likely be $499, or the same price as the ipad 2. However, Apple will probably stop producing the ipad 2 once they unleash ipad 3 on the world. Unfortunately, the reduced price ipad 2 will only last as long as the supplies do, much like the original ipad.
